11 Ways Coffee Can Make Your Life Easier

1. Use left over coffee to make coffee ice cubes. Use these cubes to keep your iced coffee from getting watered down, include them in a smoothie or throw them in your garbage disposal to help eliminate odors!

2. Hard boil an egg in your coffee pot while it’s making coffee for a quick, multitasking breakfast.

These instructions (via reddit) are meant for brewing a full 12-cup pot of coffee:

  • Wash a raw egg. Don’t try to cook more than one at a time.
  • Place the egg—still in its shell—in the coffee grounds, right in the center. A minute or two after the coffee is done, take the egg out (careful, it’s very hot) and run it under cool water.
  • Peel and eat.

3. Use left over coffee grounds to help your garden grow.

Coffee grounds are relatively high in nitrogen, which encourages healthy soil in gardens. They are also a great addition to your compost pile since nitrogen helps turns organic matter into compost. Coffee grounds are especially helpful to acid-loving plants like tomatoes, roses, azaleas and some fruit trees.

4. Use coffee filters to hold a variety of snacks such as chips, cheese-itz, trail mix, etc. They even make great taco holders!

5.  Sprinkle wet coffee grounds on ashes before you clean your fireplace to keep ash and dust from flying around as you clean.

6. Use fresh-brewed coffee as a marinade for short ribs or use ground coffee as a dry rub on meat and burgers.

7. Use coffee filters to prevent soil from coming out of the hole in a bottom of a plant pot.

8. To get rid of smoker smell in your car, put fresh coffee grounds in pantyhose and leave it in the car overnight.

9. Exfoliate with a body scrub made of coffee grounds, coconut oil and a little brown sugar. Gently massage it on in the shower, rinse, be soft.

10. Repel ants, snails and slugs by sprinkling coffee grounds around areas of infestation.

11. Used coffee grounds can be used as a cleaning abrasive. Simply save up your coffee grounds and scoop some into your next dirty pot or pan before hand washing, the absorbent grounds are perfect for greasy pans and the small jegged edges of each ground helps in cleaning even the grossest of dishware.
